Good for Japanese maples, hornbeans, trident maples, beech, and all other deciduous trees. When it comes to choosing bonsai soil, some folks are fussy about their mixes. That’s why we only carry special soil mixed by one of the largest bonsai nurseries in the nation – New England Bonsai Gardens. The soil you use affects rooting, feeding, watering and transpiration; it is where half your tree lives so this is our second biggest consideration in maintaining your bonsai. Our soil is a mix of Turface®, coarse river sand, fine pine bark, and micro and macro nutrients. This soil mix also includes imported Japanese Akadama and Kanuma soils. It is sifted to remove all the large and fine particles.
