Root Cutters & Trunk Splitters
Bonsai root cutters and trunk splitters are used by serious bonsai gardeners, often when working with deadwood (Jin and Shari ) or when trying to reshape branches. Their symmetrical cutting blades provide the clearance and cutting actions necessary for clean splits with minimal residual damage. In nature, natural jin results when lighting strikes a tree and kills a branch, when strong wind breaks a branch, or when a branch naturally dies and withers to the bone-white of exposed wood. Unfortunately, these are unlikely occurrences with bonsai.
