Blackhaw viburnum has several qualities that make it interesting for bonsai:

• Interesting bark: As the tree ages, its bark develops a distinctive texture with flat-topped plates, adding visual interest.
• Seasonal interest: It offers white spring flowers, dark green summer foliage, and red to purple fall colors.
• Berries: The tree produces purplish-black berries that attract birds.

Care Requirements

• Light: Place in full sun to partial shade for best flowering and fruiting.
• Soil: Use a well-draining bonsai soil mix. The species adapts to various soil types in nature.
• Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, especially for young plants. Mature trees have some drought tolerance.
