Gerald Rainville
Gerald Rainville is a trailblazing bonsai Practioner from Canada with decades of experience shaping trees with care and vision. His bonsai journey started back in 1987 when he began growing trees from seed, all of which he cultivates in pots. His dedication to the art has been unwavering, and his passion for bonsai truly took off during his apprenticeship in Japan. Even now, Gerald regularly visits Takamatsu to reconnect and learn from his bonsai community there.
What sets Gerald apart is his incredible ability to choose the right material, carefully nurture it, and guide it through its early stages, setting it up perfectly for future styling. His expertise covers everything from untouched seedlings to more developed trees, many of which are currently being refined at New England Bonsai Gardens (NEBG) by talented artists like John Romano, Peter Olson, and Kaya Mooney. In fact, nearly 300 of Gerald's trees were recently acquired, ranging from untouched to those in various stages of styling, giving bonsai enthusiasts a chance to experience his evolving legacy firsthand.
