Kurobara Camellia Oil (100ml) – Traditional Japanese Protection for Bonsai Tools & Pots

There’s a reason camellia oil has been trusted in Japan for generations.

Long before it ever touched bonsai tools, camellia oil was used to protect finely crafted steel, famously including the care of Samurai swords. Same idea, same outcome: a clean, conditioned surface that resists moisture, slows rust, and stays ready for the next cut.

Kurobara Camellia Oil (100ml) is your simple “end-of-session” ritual - wipe down, protect, and put your tools away knowing they’ll be smooth and dependable next time you reach for them.

Why you’ll love it

  • Helps prevent rust & corrosion by leaving a light protective film on metal surfaces
  • Ideal for carbon steel and stainless tools (shears, concave cutters, knob cutters, jin pliers, tweezers, and more)
  • Great for pots & hardware too (wire cutters, turntables, pot screens, and other metal accessories)
  • Non-toxic & non-allergenic (as formulated)
  • 100ml bottle — easy to keep at your bench or in your tool roll

How to use (fast + effective)

  1. After trimming or wiring, remove sap/debris from the tool.
  2. Apply a few drops to a cloth or paper towel.
  3. Wipe a thin coat over blades, joints, and any exposed metal.
  4. Store dry and repeat after each use—especially during humid seasons.

Camellia Oil vs. our Choji Oil Kit

If you want just the oil, this is the clean, classic option.

If you want the complete tool-care setup, check out our Choji Oil Kit. It’s comparable protection, but it also includes a rust eraser and cloth so you can remove light surface rust and keep a consistent finish as part of the same routine.

Shipping Bonsai Trees:

Bonsai trees are generally shipped on Mondays & Tuesdays to avoid having them stay in the boxes for any extra time over the weekends.

Shipping Non-Tree Items

All non-bonsai items such as bonsai pots and bonsai supplies are shipped within 48 hours of receiving payment. Most orders are shipped either the same day or the next day, depending on the time of day the order is received.

Important Guidelines:

** We cannot ship to a FPO, APO, P.O. Box or to locations in Alaska, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hawaii or anywhere internationally.

** All Bonsai are shipped direct from the nursery and may ship separately from other items purchased via the Bonsai Outlet.

** If extreme weather is expected, we may delay shipping your Bonsai tree to guarantee a healthy arrival; in such a case we will contact you. We are shipping living trees and must be conscious of the temperature conditions to the delivery address, as well as, while in transit. That said, we reserve the right to hold the tree(s) to guarantee a healthy delivery. We will Hold Your Tree Until It is Safe to Ship.
