35-Year-Old Japanese Garden Juniper Bonsai (Procumbens Nana) – Classic “Karate Kid” tree
Let’s be honest: most Procumbens Nana you see for sale are small, young, and fairly interchangeable. This one is not that.
This is a big-boy Japanese Garden Juniper with real age, real structure, and the kind of presence you only get after decades of growth. It has the iconic “Karate Kid” vibe. A powerful trunk line with a confident, sweeping canopy, and it’s loaded with branching that gives you options for refinement without needing to “build” the tree from scratch.
We acquired this specimen a couple years ago in a grow pot. Since then, it’s been opened up for better structure and movement, then moved into a ceramic bonsai pot so it finally presents like the mature tree it is. The foliage mass is substantial, but it’s not a green blob — you can see the lines, the pads, and the potential to refine it into a true showpiece over time.
Why this matters: Customers often hesitate to spend money on Procumbens because they’re used to starter material. But this is not starter material. This is the kind of juniper that saves you 20+ years of growing, thickening, and building primary branching. You’re buying the time. You’re buying the bones. Shipping Bonsai Trees:
Bonsai trees are generally shipped on Mondays & Tuesdays to avoid having them stay in the boxes for any extra time over the weekends.
Shipping Non-Tree Items
All non-bonsai items such as bonsai pots and bonsai supplies are shipped within 48 hours of receiving payment. Most orders are shipped either the same day or the next day, depending on the time of day the order is received.
Important Guidelines:
** We cannot ship to a FPO, APO, P.O. Box or to locations in Alaska, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hawaii or anywhere internationally.
** All Bonsai are shipped direct from the nursery and may ship separately from other items purchased via the Bonsai Outlet.
** If extreme weather is expected, we may delay shipping your Bonsai tree to guarantee a healthy arrival; in such a case we will contact you. We are shipping living trees and must be conscious of the temperature conditions to the delivery address, as well as, while in transit. That said, we reserve the right to hold the tree(s) to guarantee a healthy delivery. We will Hold Your Tree Until It is Safe to Ship.
