European Olive Pre-Bonsai with Twin-Trunk Character and Great Styling Potential
This is one of several pre-bonsai we are posting this time of year.
Every spring, we work through a large volume of material, and while we move many trees into ceramic pots for retail, we also end up with a healthy group of strong pre-bonsai that simply do not get finished in time. That is the case here. There is nothing wrong with this tree. It is healthy, full of potential, and being offered online for someone who enjoys taking quality material to the next stage.
This European Olive stands out for its taller, more upright structure and its interesting multi-trunk character. Right away, it gives you more movement and design options than the average piece of nursery stock. The main trunk has a nice lean and taper, while the secondary trunk and branching create the beginnings of a composition that could be developed in several different directions. It has a more open framework at the moment, which is actually part of the appeal. You can study it, select branches carefully, and build the tree with intention.
The foliage has that classic olive look people are always drawn to, with narrow gray-green leaves, lighter undersides, and soft new growth pushing at the tips. European Olives have a timeless Mediterranean feel, and they reward growers who enjoy developing structure over time and creating bonsai with age, lightness, and natural movement.
Currently in a 6.5 inch training pot, this tree is a very good candidate for future pruning, wiring, and refinement. It would especially appeal to someone who likes material with a little more height and an airier structure rather than something already dense and compact. There is a lot of future here for the right person.
