Seed-Grown Japanese Black Pine Shohin Bonsai by Gerald Rainville (One-Of-A-Kind)
This is another seed-grown Japanese Black Pine developed by Gerald Rainville. A shohin pine with real character, strong structure, and the kind of long-term potential that makes Japanese Black Pine such a rewarding species to own and refine over time.
This tree was recently repotted and is set up to settle in and continue building strength. It’s a great candidate for someone who wants a pine they can enjoy immediately, then continue to develop with seasonal refinement work.
Note on the needles: The needles were intentionally left untouched on this tree. Some Japanese Black Pine customers prefer needles to be cut/shortened for a cleaner look and tighter presentation, while others prefer to leave them as-is and handle needle work on their own schedule. Because the needles have not been shortened, you don’t fully see the entire trunk from every angle, but that also means the next owner gets to decide exactly how they want to present and refine the tree.
