This handmade rectangular bonsai pot was made in Tokoname, Japan by Yamafusa (Takehiko Koie). I purchased this pot directly through another artist and guide while in Japan.
This is a very clean, confident rectangle with a soft cream exterior and a warm pink interior that gives it a calm but collected presence. The form is disciplined and architectural, yet the light clay tone keeps it from feeling severe. It has the kind of balance collectors look for in a pot that can support a quality tree without fighting for attention.
What makes this piece especially appealing is its proportion.
