Handmade Bonsai Pot by Shuho (Hidemi Kataoka)
This elegant round bonsai pot was made at Yoshimura Toen in Tokoname by Shuho (Hidemi Kataoka), 5th generation. I visited the kiln in November 2025 and hand-selected pots directly from what was available on site, not from a catalog.
This piece has a beautiful flared silhouette with a soft, flower-like presence. The glaze shows deep cobalt blue tones with hints of plum and violet movement, giving the pot a rich and slightly moody character. It feels refined, but still handmade and warm.
- Condition note: This pot is new.
- Style: Round flared form with a gently expanding rim and subtle petal-like foot detail.
- Feet: Integrated scalloped feet formed into the base.
- Exterior: Glossy deep blue glaze with violet-plum variation and natural tonal movement.
- Interior: Unglazed interior with a dark glazed rim.
Dimensions:
- Outside: 4.75” x 3.25”
- Inside: 3.75” x 2.75”
Photo Note: Listing photos were taken in natural light. Glaze tone may appear slightly different depending on screen settings and lighting conditions.
