Handmade Bonsai Pot by Reiho (Katsushi Kataoka)
This handmade bonsai pot was made at Seizan Kiln in Tokoname by Reiho (Katsushi Kataoka), 4th generation. I visited the kiln in November 2025 and had the honor of hand-selecting pots directly from what was available on site, not from a catalog.
Condition note: This pot is new and unused.
This compact glazed oval bonsai pot features a softly rounded profile, a rolled rim, and a beautifully mottled blue green finish with fine speckling and gentle tonal movement. The glaze shifts between blue, green, gray, and earthy bronze notes, giving the surface a quiet depth that feels natural rather than flashy. Its smaller size and calm oval form make it especially well suited for mame and shohin bonsai, accent plantings, and small flowering or deciduous material where a softer presentation is preferred.

The lower silhouette keeps the composition feeling settled and refined, while the nuanced glaze adds just enough color and character to elevate the planting. This is a very useful Tokoname oval for smaller trees where proportion, softness, and finish matter.
