Handmade Bonsai Pot by Shuho (Hidemi Kataoka)
This handmade round bonsai pot was made at Yoshimura Toen in Tokoname by Shuho (Hidemi Kataoka), 5th generation. I visited the kiln in November 2025 and hand-selected pots directly from what was available on site, not from a catalog.
This piece has a broad flared silhouette and a deep glossy glaze with subtle green movement across the surface. The finish reads as a dark forest green with smoky variation and soft vertical flow, giving the pot a moody, refined presence. It has a classic shape, but the glaze gives it just enough character to feel special in hand.
