Handmade Bonsai Pot by Reiho (Katsushi Kataoka)
This handmade bonsai pot was made at Seizan Kiln in Tokoname by Reiho (Katsushi Kataoka), 4th generation. I visited the kiln in November 2025 and had the honor of hand-selecting pots directly from what was available on site, not from a catalog.
Condition note: This pot is new and unused.
This shallow unglazed rectangle has a clean, understated profile with softly flared sides, a broad rounded rim, and low integrated feet. The warm reddish-brown Tokoname clay shows subtle natural variation that gives the surface a quiet richness without drawing attention away from the tree. Its lower silhouette and restrained design make it an excellent choice for refined shohin bonsai, small deciduous trees, and compact conifers where a calmer, more grounded presentation is desired.

The broad rim gives the pot presence on the bench, while the shallow depth keeps the overall feeling light and refined. This is a versatile container for compositions that benefit from a lower visual weight and a pot that supports the tree without competing with it.
