Handmade Bonsai Pot by Reiho (Katsushi Kataoka)

This refined rectangular bonsai pot was made at Seizan Kiln in Tokoname by Reiho (Katsushi Kataoka), 4th generation. I visited the kiln in November 2025 and had the honor of hand-selecting pots directly from what was available on site, not from a catalog.

Condition note: This pot is new and unused.

This unglazed rectangular bonsai pot features softly flared walls, a broad rounded rim, and elegant cloud-style feet. The clay has a warm reddish-brown tone with subtle natural variation that adds depth without distracting from the tree. Its quiet strength and balanced proportions make it a versatile choice for refined deciduous bonsai, shohin conifers, and smaller broadleaf evergreens.

  • Artist: Reiho (Katsushi Kataoka)
  • Kiln: Seizan Kiln, Tokoname, Japan
  • Shape: Rectangular
  • Finish: Unglazed
  • Exterior Dimensions: 9.75" x 8.5" x 2.75"
  • Interior Dimensions: 8.5" x 6.25" x 2"
  • Condition: New

The rounded lip softens the presentation, while the carved feet add just enough movement and character to elevate the overall design. This size works especially well for medium shohin and companion-sized bonsai where a strong but understated container is needed.

Each photo shown is of the actual pot you will receive.
