At Bonsai Outlet, we ship thousands of bonsai trees, tools, pots, soils, and supplies each year to customers across the country. We work hard to pack orders carefully, ship them responsibly, and keep our policies clear and straightforward.

Shipping
General Shipping
We ship orders throughout the United States using USPS or UPS, depending on which carrier offers the best combination of reliability, speed, and value for your order.
- Live bonsai trees generally ship on Mondays or Tuesdays to help reduce unnecessary time in transit.
- Non-living items such as tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and accessories ship throughout the week.
- At this time, we do not ship live bonsai internationally.
Shipping Live Plants
Live plants are not manufactured products, and some minor transit stress is normal. Depending on the season and travel conditions, you may notice:
- A little leaf drop
- Some flower drop
- Minor leaf burn
- Shifted soil in the pot
This does not automatically mean the plant is unhealthy or damaged.
If your plant arrives in a condition you are concerned about, you must email sales@bonsaioutlet.com with clear photos within 24 hours of delivery so we can review the situation and help determine the next step.
Once a live plant has been delivered and is in your care, responsibility for its continued health shifts to you.
Returns & Refunds
Our General Policy
We care deeply about the quality of what we ship. At the same time, bonsai are living trees, and their health after delivery depends on many factors outside our control, including watering, placement, climate, and aftercare.
- One-of-a-kind and specimen trees are sold as is and are final sale.
- We do not offer warranties on live plants after they leave our care.
If We Made a Mistake
If we shipped the wrong item, or if something arrives damaged or defective due to an error on our end, we will do our best to make it right.
Please contact us promptly. For live plants, that means within 24 hours of delivery, along with photos. If a return is needed because of our error, we will provide a prepaid return label and cover the related return shipping cost.
If You Ordered the Wrong Item
If you accidentally ordered the wrong product, changed your mind, or no longer need the item, we are happy to review a return on eligible items, but return shipping will be your responsibility.
In those cases:
- The item must be safely repackaged and returned at your expense.
- The product must arrive back in original, unused, resellable condition.
- Original shipping charges are not refundable unless the mistake was ours.
Returns for Non-Tree Products
Most non-living items may be returned within 30 days of delivery, as long as they are unused and in original condition.
This includes many items such as:
- Tools
- Pots
- Accessories
- Certain unopened supply items
Please include your packing slip and a short note explaining the reason for the return. Refunds do not include shipping charges or gift wrap fees unless the issue was caused by our error.
Non-Returnable Items
The following items are not eligible for return:
- Autographed or special-edition books
- Customized products, including items made for corporate gifts
- Gift cards
- Opened fertilizers, pesticides, wound pastes, or soil products
How We Pack Bonsai for Shipping
We take plant packing seriously and use a process designed to help trees arrive safely.
Before Shipment
Trees are watered thoroughly before being packed.
Securing the Tree
Pots are wrapped and stabilized to help protect the root ball and keep soil in place during transit.
Packing Materials
We use sturdy corrugated shipping boxes with space around the tree or pot to reduce pressure during handling.
Cushioning and Protection
When appropriate, we add packing material to help reduce movement, absorb shock, and provide a layer of insulation during shipping.
If your tree or pot arrives damaged, please photograph the box, interior packaging, and product immediately, then contact us so we can help.

Important Notes
Bonsai are living plants, and their ongoing health depends on proper care after delivery, including watering, light, temperature, and environment.
Once a live plant is delivered to the shipping address provided, responsibility for its care transfers to the customer.
For any concern involving a live plant, photos must be emailed within 24 hours of delivery.
