Japanese Jin and Wire Pliers (No. D9)

$72.50
  • A product image of Tinyroots Japanese Choji Oil, a rust prevention solution specifically designed for the maintenance of bonsai tools. The image features the product's packaging: a rectangular cardboard box and a clear 1 fluid ounce (30ml) glass bottle equipped with a black rubber-topped glass dropper.

The packaging design is split horizontally into two sections. The top half is white, decorated with an elegant pattern of red and white cherry blossoms (sakura) and subtle grey geometric shapes. The brand name "Tinyroots" is printed vertically in black, alongside a small red square containing the Japanese kanji for oil (æ²¹).

The bottom half of both the box and the bottle label is solid black with bold white lettering. The text on the front of the box reads "CHOJI OIL," "RUST PREVENTION SOLUTION," and "1 FL.OZ (30ML)." The side of the box lists key product benefits such as "EASY TO USE DISPENSER," "PROTECTS & PRESERVES TOOLS," and "PREVENTS OXIDATION & RUST." It also notes that this is part of a "3-PIECE KIT" including Choji oil, a rust eraser, and a lint-free cloth. Small icons indicate the product is "READY TO USE!" and comes with a "100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEED" seal. The glass bottle's label mirrors this design, with a large, faint grey kanji character for oil in the background of the black section.

Similar to the D10 Jin Pliers, the D9 is longer and used for more aggressive work.

These pliers are about 9" in length. An ideal size for applying strength onto the wires or branches for styling or for twisting bonsai tree anchor wire. Jin Pliers are awesome. They are used to carefully remove or peal back bark for the purpose of drying out the under-lying wood. The resulting “jin” is used to give the illusion of age. They're also a great tool used to twist wire when anchoring bonsai trees into the pot.

This technique is used to produce the general aesthetic of weathering, fire damage and age. Jin can also be used to hide unsightly defects in the wood (rather than trying to cover up a blemish, the artist embraces it). Our Jin pliers are perfect to produce that rough and weathered look.

With a long nose and gripping mouth, our Jin pliers are perfect to give that rough and weathered look. They’re also perfect for related Bonsai tasks such as wiring, gripping, twisting and squeezing.

This 9" Carbon Steel Yoshiaki Jin and Wire pliers are built strong and designed for the toughest bonsai roots.

These - as all Japanese Yoshiaki Tools - are hand forged with high-carbon steel. They are the preferred tools of World Renown Bonsai Master Masahiko Kimura.

About Yoshiaki:

Yoshiaki Bonsai Tools are made the old fashion way - By hand, with some modern machinery. The machine forms the edges outline, then humans finish the edges, assemble and finish the product. The craftsmanship and cutting performance of Yoshiaki tools is superior and why bonsai enthusiast prefer this brand.
