Our Story
Our roots go back to 1987, when New England Bonsai Gardens began serving the bonsai community in Massachusetts. Bonsai Outlet followed in 2001, starting with one bonsai tree, and a lot of questions.
Today, those two stories have come together. In early 2026, we brought Bonsai Outlet and New England Bonsai Gardens together under one brand: Bonsai Outlet.

How did we get here? It began with a birthday gift bonsai and the questions every beginner asks. That experience shaped our purpose: make bonsai easier to understand, easier to shop for, and easier to enjoy. Over time, we grew through experience, community, and strategic acquisitions. More trees, more supplies, more knowledge, and more people who care deeply about bonsai.

Bonsai Outlet is a working bonsai nursery, not just a website shipping products from a warehouse.
At our Massachusetts nursery, we care for bonsai across 8 greenhouses. Watering, pruning, repotting, styling, teaching, packing, and helping customers every day. In Florida, we grow and ship tropical bonsai so customers have better access to warm-climate trees throughout the year.
That hands-on experience shapes everything we do: the trees we choose, the products we sell, the workshops we offer, and the advice we give.

We host workshops nearly every weekend. This year, we expect close to 500 students to take a Bonsai Basics workshop with us.
Kaikou School of Bonsai
We are home to the Kaikou School of Bonsai, a two-year intensive program for students who want to go deeper into the art and discipline of bonsai cultivation.
