Dwarf Jade & Chinese Elm Pre-Bonsai Kit – Exact Trees Shown
Two of our most popular bonsai species, together in one pre-bonsai kit.
Each kit includes one Dwarf Jade and one Chinese Elm. These are not tiny starter plants. Both trees already have established trunks and branching, but they are still in grow pots so you can decide what comes next. Repot them, style them, prune them, or let them continue growing for another season.
Only six of these kits are available. Each pair was photographed individually on August 7, 2026, and what you see is exactly what you will receive.

About the Dwarf Jade
Dwarf Jade is our number-one-selling bonsai species. It is forgiving, responds extremely well to pruning, and grows quickly when it is warm and actively growing.
These Jades were started from cuttings approximately five years ago. That time matters. They already have developed trunks and established branches, so you are not beginning with a young cutting that still needs years of basic growth.
About the Chinese Elm
Chinese Elm is one of the most popular bonsai species for a reason. It has naturally small leaves, develops fine branching, and gives you the classic tree-like appearance most people associate with bonsai.
These Chinese Elms were imported and are currently being maintained as tropical trees. You can continue growing yours that way. If you live in a northern state, you may eventually decide to transition it to a cold-hardy seasonal cycle, but that should be done gradually and at the proper time of year.
Why We Paired Them Together
These two species grow and respond differently, which is exactly why they make such a good kit.
The Dwarf Jade is forgiving, fast-growing, and easy to prune. The Chinese Elm produces finer branching and gives you a more traditional deciduous bonsai experience. Together, they give you two very different trees to develop without starting from seedlings or small starter plants.
Shipping Expectations
Chinese Elms commonly shed leaves during shipping and while adjusting to a new environment. Some trees may lose only a few leaves, while others may drop a significant amount. This is normal for the species and does not automatically mean the tree is unhealthy.
Once the elm settles into appropriate light and growing conditions, it should begin producing fresh foliage. The Dwarf Jade generally handles shipping well, although minor changes in foliage are always possible.
Please Note
All trees are sold as-is. All sales are final - no refunds, returns, or exchanges. Once the tree leaves our nursery, care is your responsibility. Have questions? Just reach out - we're happy to help.
We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
