An Incredible Tree, but Not One We Recommend to Everyone
Due to California agricultural restrictions, this tree cannot be shipped to California. These restrictions are imposed by the State of California and apply to many growers shipping plants from regulated areas.
This is the exact tree and pot shown in the photographs.
This Fukien Tea came to us in a trade in early 2026. We do not know its original source. Based on its development and presentation, we suspect it was imported in roughly this form, but we cannot confirm that.
Regardless of where it started, this is an incredible specimen. The broad, heavily textured trunk supports an established network of thick branches, and the canopy is currently dotted with small white flowers. The exposed roots and old pruning marks give it a lot to look at up close.
It is planted in a wide, shallow green ceramic pot that fits the low profile of the tree nicely.

Please Be Realistic About Fukien Tea
Fukien Tea is not something we normally sell from our Massachusetts nursery. These trees can be prone to pests, and they do not enjoy the dry air and limited winter light found in many northern homes.
We know plenty of people in the Northeast who grow them successfully, but most use strong grow lights and pay close attention to warmth, watering, humidity and pest prevention. Without that setup, this tree may be better suited to someone in a warmer climate or a grower with previous tropical bonsai experience.
Care
Keep this tree warm and give it very strong light. It can grow outdoors during warm weather after being gradually acclimated, but it must come inside before nights turn cold. Indoors, a quality grow light is strongly recommended, especially through a northern winter.
Water thoroughly as the soil begins approaching dryness. Avoid letting the root ball dry completely, but do not keep it constantly saturated. Inspect the foliage and branches regularly for pests.
Fukien Tea can react to shipping and environmental changes by dropping leaves, flowers or buds. Stable warmth, strong light and consistent watering will help it settle into its new home.
Flowers and Photography
Photographed in flower on September 29, 2026. Flowers are temporary and may open, fade or drop before or during shipping. Future flowering depends on growing conditions and seasonal development.
Shipping
This tree ships from our Massachusetts nursery. We secure the shallow ceramic pot, protect the soil surface and support the broad canopy before packing it for transit.
Please Note
All trees are sold as-is. All sales are final. No refunds, returns or exchanges. Once the tree leaves our nursery, its care is your responsibility. Have questions? Just reach out. We’re happy to help.
We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
