This tree already shows the cork bark texture that makes Frank Yee Cork Bark Jades so desirable. The trunk has a strong curved line with visible corking, rough bark plates, tan-brown texture, and darker aged crevices that give the tree character well beyond ordinary Dwarf Jade material.

This tree has a compact 11" height with a 12" spread, giving it a wide, full canopy over a rugged lower trunk. It is currently growing in an 8" grow pot and is well suited for continued tropical bonsai development.

About This Tree

This Cork Bark Jade has a compact shape with a pronounced curved trunk and several branching points. The lower trunk already has the rugged corked surface texture that makes Portulacaria afra 'Frank' distinct from standard Dwarf Jade.

The canopy is full and active, with small rounded leaves and multiple branch directions for future styling. Its lower, wider proportions make it a good candidate for a compact tropical bonsai with a strong trunk-focused design.

Care Notes

Frank Yee Cork Bark Jade requires the same general care as Dwarf Mini Jade. It is a tropical succulent bonsai and is not cold hardy. In colder climates, grow it indoors in bright light and protect it from cold drafts. It may be placed outdoors during warm weather once nighttime temperatures are consistently safe for tropical plants.

Water thoroughly when the soil has dried down, then allow the soil to dry again before watering. Cork Bark Jade prefers bright light, warm conditions, and a well-draining soil mix. Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet.
