Lavender Starflower Bonsai with an Upright Trunk and Flowering Canopy

This Lavender Starflower has a taller, more upright shape with a visible trunk and a nicely developed canopy above it. The branching is already well established, and when we photographed it in early July, it was actively flowering with several additional buds still developing.

We did not prune it because it was continuing to flower, and then I forgot to post it. So, it has continued growing since these photographs were taken and will be a little leggier than shown. The trunk and underlying branch structure are the same. It simply has additional summer growth that can be enjoyed for the flowers or pruned back later.

About This Tree

I like the proportions of this one. It has enough height to feel mature, but the canopy is still compact enough that it does not feel oversized for the pot. The soft blue-green pot also works really well with the lavender flowers.

You can allow it to continue flowering for now or prune the new growth back later to tighten the canopy and bring the shape back in.

Shipping Expectations

Lavender Starflower is known for dropping foliage during shipping. Some trees lose only a few leaves, while others may drop quite a bit. This is normal for the species and does not automatically mean the tree is unhealthy.

Once it settles back into warmth and bright light, it will normally begin producing fresh growth. If you are expecting the tree to arrive looking exactly as it does in the photographs, this may not be the right species for you. The tree has grown since these photos were taken, and it may also lose foliage during transit.
