Mature Dwarf Jade Bonsai with a Powerful Trunk and Established Branching

There is a lot of tree here.

This Dwarf Jade was started from a cutting approximately five years ago. Until early March, it was still in a grow pot where we were simply letting it grow, thicken, and build the trunk and branch structure you see today. It has now been moved into an 8.5" glazed Japanese ceramic bonsai pot, and I think it is finally ready for its forever home.

The trunk is substantial, the base has real character, and there are already several strong primary branches to work with. This is not a young starter tree that still needs years of growing before it begins to look like a bonsai. Most of that work has already been done.

This tree was photographed in early July immediately after it was pruned back hard. I never got the chance to upload it at the time, so it will be considerably fuller than it appears in the photographs. That is a good thing. The trunk and underlying branches are exactly the same, but the tree has had another month of warm Florida growing weather to fill back in.

About This Tree

Dwarf Jade is our number-one-selling bonsai species, and there is a reason for that. It is forgiving, grows quickly in warm conditions, responds extremely well to pruning, and can be enjoyed by a beginner without feeling like a beginner tree.

This particular Jade has far more development than the average one we offer. The trunk and primary branches are already there. The next owner can continue building compact foliage pads, open the tree up to show more of the branch structure, or simply allow it to grow fuller and enjoy it as it is.

What to Expect

The tree will not arrive looking as sparse as it does in the photographs. These pictures were taken immediately after a hard pruning in early July, and it has continued growing since then. Expect a fuller canopy and additional extension growth.

The trunk, established branches, root base, and glazed Japanese pot are exactly what you are purchasing. The additional foliage is simply healthy new growth that can be kept, shaped, or pruned back depending on the direction you want to take the tree.
