A Mature Pink Pixie Bougainvillea in Full Color
Due to California agricultural restrictions, this tree cannot be shipped to California. These restrictions are imposed by the State of California and apply to many growers shipping plants from regulated areas.
This is the exact tree shown in the photographs.
This mature Pink Pixie Bougainvillea combines an established trunk, exposed roots, a broad flowering canopy, and one very bright yellow glazed Yixing pot. The yellow glaze provides a striking contrast against the green foliage and vivid pink bracts.
The tree has a substantial, textured trunk that divides into two strong sections before supporting a well-developed network of branches. Several exposed roots travel over the soil surface, adding age and character to the base. Compact green leaves and clusters of colorful bracts are distributed throughout the canopy.
Pink Pixie is especially well suited to bonsai because of its naturally compact growth, smaller leaves, strong response to pruning, and ability to produce repeated flushes of color when grown with plenty of warmth and sunlight. The showy pink structures are bracts surrounding the plant’s small white flowers.
Important shipping note: Bougainvillea responds to packing and shipping stress by dropping flowers, bracts, and leaves. This tree will not arrive with the same degree of bloom shown in the photographs. Leaf and flower drop during transit is normal and does not mean the tree is unhealthy. With warmth, bright light, and proper care, it can begin producing new growth.

Care
Pink Pixie Bougainvillea thrives with warmth, strong sunlight, and good airflow. During the warm growing season, place it outdoors in full sun. Protect it from frost and freezing temperatures, and move it to a bright, protected indoor location for winter in cold climates.
Water thoroughly, then allow the soil to begin approaching dryness before watering again. Bougainvillea does not appreciate constantly saturated soil. Strong light and careful watering are important for compact growth and future flowering.
Flowers and leaves may also drop when the tree is moved between environments. Allow it time to adjust before performing major pruning or repotting.
Shipping Confidence
This tree ships from our Massachusetts nursery. It will be carefully packed to protect the trunk, branches, root system, soil, and glazed ceramic pot during transit.
The flowers and foliage are delicate and cannot be completely protected during shipping. Flower, bract, and leaf loss should be anticipated and is not considered structural shipping damage.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
