Old Collected Variegated Aralia Bonsai with Gnarly Trunk and Exposed Roots
This is the exact tree shown in the photos.
This old collected Variegated Aralia bonsai has the kind of trunk character and root structure that immediately separates it from ordinary nursery-grown material. The base is thick, textured, and full of age, with exposed roots gripping into the soil and multiple trunks rising into a full canopy of bright green and cream-variegated foliage.
This tree is currently planted in a 10" grow pot, making it a strong candidate for future refinement. It has plenty of presence as-is, but the next owner could take it in several directions: continue developing it in the grow pot, reduce and refine the canopy, or eventually transition it into a ceramic bonsai pot once the timing is right.
The foliage is fresh, full, and actively growing, with attractive variegation throughout. The contrast between the rugged, old collected base and the soft, bright foliage gives this tree a lot of personality. It feels wild, aged, and unusual—in the best way.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a unique, mature broadleaf bonsai with real trunk character and future styling potential.

Photography Note
This tree was photographed on May 2, 2026. The photos show the actual tree for sale at the time of photography.
Shipping Note
This tree ships from our nursery. It will be packed carefully, but some minor movement of foliage, soil, or new growth may occur during transit. Because this tree is actively growing, the foliage may look slightly different by the time it ships.
Care Note
Aralia prefers bright, indirect light to partial sun, consistent moisture, and protection from cold temperatures. Keep evenly moist, but do not allow the soil to stay constantly saturated. In colder climates, this tree should be protected from freezing temperatures and wintered appropriately.
