Spectacular Mature Black Olive Bonsai in a Commissioned Sam Miller Pot
You will receive the exact tree shown in these photographs.
This Black Olive is spectacular. It is a large, mature tree with a heavy trunk, deeply cracked bark, great movement, and years of branch development. The trunk moves strongly to the right before the canopy spreads back across the tree. Even with a full canopy, you can still see the trunk and the mature primary branches running through it.
There is a lot to look at here. The bark continues from the base into the larger branches, and the canopy has been developed into multiple layers with plenty of secondary branching. The small foliage works well with the size of the tree and gives it a finished appearance without making it look overly dense.
The pot is also an important part of this listing. It is a handmade Sam Miller ceramic pot, and I was told by the person we acquired the tree from that the pot was commissioned specifically for this tree several years ago. I was not part of the original commission, so I can only pass that history along as it was shared with me. The size, shape, and finish of the pot are an excellent match for the tree.

Care Note
Black Olive is a tropical species that appreciates warmth, bright light, and protection from cold temperatures. In colder climates, it will need to be brought indoors before temperatures become too cold. Do not allow the root ball to dry completely, especially during warm weather or while the tree is actively growing.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
