Upright Australian Brush Cherry Tropical Bonsai
Due to California agricultural restrictions, this tree cannot be shipped to California. These restrictions are imposed by the State of California and apply to many growers shipping plants from regulated areas.
Most Australian Brush Cherries start out looking like hedges. This one is already well past that stage. Peter Olson removed the crowded growth, selected the better branches and started building a taller, more natural-looking tree.
The trunk has a gentle curve with branches placed at several levels. A long lower branch extends to the left, while the right side carries more of the tree’s weight. The open areas between the branches keep the trunk visible and give the canopy some breathing room.
The foliage is healthy and actively growing, with the reddish tips that make Brush Cherry especially attractive during a new flush. There is plenty of branching available for the next owner to shorten, refine and develop into tighter foliage pads.
We have taken our time developing the root system so the tree could be moved safely into its current 10-inch Yixing ceramic pot. It is a good-looking combination and a solid next step for this developing bonsai.

Growing This Tree
Keep this Brush Cherry outdoors during warm weather where it can receive bright light and good airflow. Move it indoors before cold weather arrives. A sunny window or quality grow light will help maintain healthy growth through the winter.
Check the soil regularly and water thoroughly once the surface begins to dry. Brush Cherry responds quickly to pruning, so new shoots can be allowed to extend and then shortened to gradually improve the outline and finer branching. Any remaining wire should be monitored so it does not cut into the expanding branches.
Packing and Delivery
We ship from our Massachusetts nursery. The pot is secured inside the box, and the trunk, branches, foliage and soil are protected to help the tree travel safely.
Current Appearance
These photographs were taken September 29, 2026. New growth may lengthen or be trimmed before shipment, and foliage color can change slightly with light, temperature and the season.
After Shipping
Some leaf drop can occur when a tropical tree is shipped or moved into a new growing environment. Give it bright light, consistent warmth and proper watering while it adjusts.
All trees are sold as-is. All sales are final. No refunds, returns or exchanges. Once the tree leaves our nursery, its care is your responsibility. Have questions? Just reach out. We’re happy to help.
We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
