An Imported Japanese White Pine Ready for Its Next Chapter
This Japanese White Pine has been quietly recovering and growing in our production greenhouse since it arrived from Japan in 2024. After two years out of the spotlight, it is healthy, established and finally ready to find its new home.
The exact age is unknown, but we estimate the tree to be approximately 35 years old. Its mature bark, substantial trunk and well-developed branch structure support that estimate. This is not young material waiting to acquire character. The feeling of age is already present.
The tree was imported by New England Bonsai in 2024. Like many imported trees that undergo the stress of bare-rooting and international transport, it experienced some dieback after arrival. We chose not to rush it onto the sales floor. Instead, it was kept in our production greenhouse and given the time it needed to recover.
That history is important, and we want its next owner to know it. The tree has remained healthy under our care, and the living branches now carry attractive blue-green needles throughout the canopy.
The lower trunk is exceptional.
This tree is ready to leave the greenhouse, but its development is not finished. If it does not sell, we plan to continue refining it this year. Additional branch selection, wiring and foliage work will move it closer to a finished bonsai, and its price will change to reflect that work.
For the right person, now may be the most exciting time to acquire it. The difficult transition from imported material to an established tree has already taken place, while many of the final artistic decisions are still available.
It came a long way to get here. It spent two years quietly rebuilding its strength. Now it is time for someone else to continue the story.
You will receive the exact Japanese White Pine shown in the photographs.

Please Note
This imported tree experienced some dieback following the bare-root import process and has been recovering in our production greenhouse since 2024. All trees are sold as-is. All sales are final. No refunds, returns or exchanges. Once the tree leaves our nursery, its care is your responsibility. Have questions? Just reach out. We’re happy to help.
We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
