Rare Mark Comstock Japanese Black Pine Seedling Cuttings - Clump Style
This Japanese Black Pines is the growing process to achieve arial roots. The Japanese black pine is a native of Japan and is arguably one of the most classic of bonsai. What makes these seedling cuttings unique is their fine radial root base. Because these lateral roots were developed, you will have the ability to grow a pine bonsai with a flared trunk. These flared trunks are highly sought after on pine bonsai.
Clump style bonsai, or "Yose-ue" in Japanese, features multiple trees planted closely together, creating a naturalistic forest effect. Each tree in the clump retains its individual character while harmonizing with the collective aesthetic. Root systems intertwine, suggesting a shared history and interconnectedness. This tree is obviously not styled. We wanted to get it into a ceramic pot this spring - repotting season is almost over. This allows the new owner to style it in the near future.
