Hardiness: USDA Zone 8-11
(Not frost-hardy – protect in winter if temperatures drop below 32°F)

Light:

  • Full sun is best – at least 6+ hours of direct sunlight daily.
  • Can tolerate partial shade, but fruit production and growth will slow.

Temperature:

  • Keep outdoors year-round in zones 8-11.
  • If temperatures drop below 32°F, protect the tree by bringing it into a garage, for example.
  • Avoid indoor environments—Kinzu needs fresh air and natural light to thrive.

Watering:

  • Water when the topsoil feels slightly dry, ensuring even moisture.
  • Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, but do not keep it soggy—well-draining soil is essential.

Winter Protection (Cold Climates - Zone 7 or Colder):

  • If you live in colder climates (below Zone 8), Kinzu must be overwintered in a cool, bright area—Please research online for your best options.
  • Do not keep indoors as a houseplant—it needs cool dormancy in winter to stay healthy.
