White Spruce Forest Tree
Species - Picea glauca
White spruce is an evergreen coniferous tree native to North America. As a bonsai, it has some specific traits:
- Needles: Short, four-sided needles that are bluish-green in color
- Growth pattern: Whorled branches with a tendency to grow in a conical shape
- Bark: Thin, grayish-brown bark that becomes scaly with age
Care and Maintenance
- Sunlight: Place in full sun, with some protection from intense midday summer sun.
- Watering: Water thoroughly when the soil begins to dry, but avoid constant wetness.
- Fertilizing: Feed regularly during the growing season, every 2-4 weeks.
- Pruning: Pinch new growth in spring when shoots are still soft. Avoid hard pruning except in autumn.
- Repotting: Best done in late summer or early autumn, after new buds appear on current season's growth
