The Myrmephytum selebicum plant exhibits a unique adaptation where it forms specialized structures called domatia to house colonies of ants. These domatia are hollow chambers or pockets located at the base of the leaves or within the plant's stem. The ants, typically from the genus Philidris, establish colonies within these domatia, creating a mutually beneficial relationship with the plant.

In return for shelter and protection provided by the domatia, the ants defend the Myrmephytum selebicum plant against herbivores and other threats. They may also contribute nutrients to the plant through their waste products, enhancing its growth and overall health.

To maintain ideal moisture levels, water lightly when the top inch of soil is dry.
