Trunk Splitters, as the name suggests, are specially designed for splitting Bonsai trunks with minimal collateral damage. 

Trunk splitters provide a massive amount of leverage because of the position of the pivot point (fulcrum). The shape and refinement of the cutting head allows you to easily cut a trunk or branch with the grain with precision and ease. 

The size of the head and the symmetrical cutting blades on this tool provide the perfect amount of clearance and its unique cutting action helps make sure that every cut is clean and precise. This particular Bonsai-specific tool has two wedge shaped cutting surfaces that are directly opposed, which is quite different than the 45-degree angle of the blades on tools like the concave cutter.
