Free Tropical Bonsai Demonstration with Jesus Brito
Sunday, July 19, 2026 | 10:00 AM
Location: 914 S. Main Street, Bellingham, MA 02019
Join us at Bonsai Outlet on Sunday, July 19 at 10:00 AM for a free tropical bonsai demonstration with Jesus Brito.
During this live demonstration, Jesus will work on multiple tropical bonsai and show how to take overgrown or underdeveloped material and move it toward a stronger bonsai design. The focus will be practical, visual, and easy to follow: how to evaluate a tree, make confident styling decisions, improve structure, and build a plan for future development.
Visitors can expect to see real work performed on real trees, including likely heavy branch removal on an overgrown Willow Leaf Ficus and styling work on a large Guava tree. Jesus will explain what he is seeing, why certain branches stay or go, and how each decision supports the long-term direction of the tree.
A special focus will also be placed on root management and nebari development, two areas that are often overlooked in tropical bonsai. Tropical trees can grow quickly, but without proper attention to the roots and base of the tree, they can develop weak surface roots, awkward trunk bases, or designs that are difficult to improve later. Jesus will discuss how to evaluate root structure, improve nebari, and think about the tree from the roots up.
The goal of this demonstration is to help attendees better understand how to approach tropical bonsai as a complete tree, including roots, trunk, branches, foliage, balance, and future design.
Whether you have a ficus at home, are interested in tropical bonsai, or simply want to see an award-winning artist work through real design challenges, this free demonstration will give you practical ideas you can apply to your own trees.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
