Collected Olive Bonsai with Weathered Trunk Character in Tokoname Grow Pot
This collected Olive bonsai has the kind of rough, weathered trunk character that makes Olive such a fun species to work with.
It is compact, rugged, and already pushing fresh green growth from the older collected trunk. The main feature here is the old trunk base. It has a weathered, cut-back look with new shoots emerging around it, giving the next owner plenty of options for future branch selection and design.
This is not a finished show tree, and that is part of the appeal. It is a collected Olive with real character, planted in a Tokoname grow pot, and ready for someone who enjoys developing material over time. You can keep the design compact and natural, or gradually select new leaders and branches to build a more refined canopy.
Olive bonsai are loved for their small leaves, tough character, and old-world Mediterranean feel. They respond well to pruning when healthy and can become incredibly convincing bonsai as the branching improves. This tree gives you a strong starting point with a trunk that already has age, texture, and personality.

Care Notes
Olive bonsai prefer strong light, good airflow, and well-draining soil. During the growing season, place the tree where it can receive plenty of sun. Water thoroughly, then allow the soil to begin drying before watering again. Olives do not like staying constantly wet.
In colder climates, Olive bonsai should be protected from freezing temperatures. This tree ships from our Massachusetts nursery, but it should still be treated as a Mediterranean species and given proper winter protection in cold areas.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
