Compact Itoigawa Shimpaku Juniper Bonsai Styled by Peter Olson
Due to California agricultural restrictions, this tree cannot be shipped to California. These restrictions are imposed by the State of California and apply to many growers shipping plants from regulated areas.
This is the exact tree shown in the photographs.
This is a really nice compact Itoigawa Shimpaku. It has a thick trunk, good movement and a full canopy that makes the tree feel much larger than its measurements.
Peter Olson styled the tree, set the branches and opened up the canopy so you can see the structure underneath. The trunk has aged bark, an exposed section of deadwood and a strong bend before the canopy moves out to the right. The foliage is healthy and dense, with plenty of branching to continue refining the pads.
At only 11 inches from the table to the apex, this tree is easy to display, but the 14-inch spread gives it a broad and powerful appearance. It is planted in a simple 10-inch Yixing ceramic pot that works well with the tree.

Care and Continued Refinement
Itoigawa junipers should be grown outdoors with plenty of sunlight and good airflow. Water thoroughly when the soil begins to approach dryness, but do not allow the root ball to dry out completely. The existing wire should be checked regularly and removed before it begins to mark the branches.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
