A professional-looking, resealable stand-up pouch of Bonsai Thrive 180, a time-release fertilizer specifically formulated for the specialized needs of bonsai trees.

The packaging design is split vertically. The left side has a clean, textured white background featuring the product name "BONSAI THRIVE 180" in bold, black lettering beneath an orange circular logo of a stylized crane. Below the product name, several key horticultural benefits are listed: "Long-Lasting Nutrient Supply," "Low Risk of Over-Fertilization," "NPK 19-5-9 in Every Granule," and "Improved Root Development."

The right side of the bag is a deep forest green adorned with delicate, light-green line-art illustrations of leaves and branches. A large, clear, crescent-shaped window on this side reveals the actual fertilizer inside: small, uniform, spherical granules in shades of deep indigo and light blue.

At the bottom of the pouch are icons for "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed" and a green checkmark indicating the product is "Ready to Use." The weight is listed as Net Wt. 10 oz (280 g). The overall image conveys a high-quality, specialized maintenance product for bonsai enthusiasts.

A Root-Over-Rock Willow Leaf Ficus We Are Happy to See Again

This is the exact tree shown in the photos.

Every so often, we get the opportunity to reacquire a tree that we previously developed and styled. This is one of those trees.

This Willow Leaf Ficus was trained over a large rock, with long roots running from the trunk, down the face of the stone, and into the soil below. The roots have aged nicely and are beginning to feel like a permanent part of the rock.

The trunk has good movement, and the canopy has plenty of established branching. The tree has been allowed to grow since we last worked on it, so it is ready for pruning and another round of refinement.

Since leaving the nursery, the tree was moved into a 9" handmade ceramic pot by Andy Arnault. The light glaze works very well with the color and texture of the rock. The tree, rock, and handmade pot are being sold together.

This arrangement is incredibly heavy. We would strongly prefer to sell it locally because the weight of the rock creates a real risk if a shipping carrier mishandles the package. Shipping is not impossible, but local pickup in Massachusetts is the safest option for both the tree and pot.

Local Pickup and Shipping

Local pickup in Massachusetts is strongly preferred. The rock makes this arrangement unusually heavy, and mishandling during transit could allow the rock to damage both the tree and the handmade pot.

Shipping is possible, and an initial fixed shipping charge of $150 has been added to the listing. After the tree is purchased, we will determine the actual packing and shipping cost and contact you about the difference. If the actual cost is less, we will refund the difference. If it is more, we will contact you before shipping to collect the additional amount.

Please feel free to contact us before purchasing if you would like to discuss local pickup or request a shipping estimate.

Photography Note

This tree was photographed on August 9, 2026. The photos show the actual Willow Leaf Ficus, rock, and Andy Arnault pot for sale.

Ficus foliage can change with new growth, pruning, shipping, and changes in light. Some leaf drop may occur while the tree adjusts to a new environment.

Care Note

Willow Leaf Ficus is a tropical bonsai and must be protected from cold temperatures and frost. It can be grown outdoors during warm weather but should be brought inside before nighttime temperatures become cold.

Give the tree plenty of bright light. Water thoroughly when the soil begins approaching dryness, but do not leave the pot sitting in water. Warmth, strong light, and regular pruning will help maintain compact foliage and encourage additional branching.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.

Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.

Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
