This is an incredible Premna, and it is far too nice to risk putting in the hands of a shipping carrier. The tree, soil, and 16" handmade ceramic pot make this a large, heavy package. If that package were dropped, the weight could damage both the tree and the pot. I am simply not willing to take that chance with a specimen like this.
The deadwood is what immediately gets your attention. The massive trunk is hollowed, weathered, and full of natural-looking openings, twists, and broken sections. It leans hard to the left before extending into a long canopy, with a separate upright section of deadwood balancing the composition on the right. There is something interesting to see from every angle.
The living branches continue the movement of the trunk. They twist and turn through the left side of the tree, with established secondary branching and small green leaves that keep the canopy in scale. The contrast between the living foliage and the pale, aged wood is spectacular.
The tree is planted in a large handmade ceramic pot with a soft green glaze and a textured rim. I do not know the potter, but the underside is signed. I included a clear photograph of the bottom of the pot so the signature and additional impressed mark can be reviewed.

Care Note
Premna is a tropical species that appreciates warmth, bright light, and protection from cold temperatures. In colder climates, it will need to be brought indoors before temperatures become too cold. Water thoroughly when needed, but do not allow the tree to remain waterlogged.

Photographed on August 9, 2026. The tree shown in the photographs is the exact tree being offered.
Shipping Note
This tree is available for local pickup only and cannot be shipped. The combination of the large tree, substantial root mass, and 16" handmade ceramic pot creates too much risk if the package is dropped or mishandled by a carrier.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
