The Flowers Really Do Smell Like Grapes
Due to California agricultural restrictions, this tree cannot be shipped to California. These restrictions are imposed by the State of California and apply to many growers shipping plants from regulated areas.
This is the exact tree and pot shown in the photographs.
This Vietnamese Blue Bell is currently producing delicate purple flowers with a strong, sweet fragrance. If you have never smelled one before, the scent is surprisingly similar to grapes or grape candy.
The tree has an upright, branching form with exposed roots gripping the soil surface. Its cobalt blue glazed Yixing pot picks up the color of the flowers and gives the tree a clean presentation.
Vietnamese Blue Bell branches also produce sharp spines, so handle the tree carefully when watering, pruning or moving it.

Flowers and Shipping
The tree was flowering when photographed, but flowers are temporary. Some blossoms, buds and foliage may drop during shipping as the tree responds to movement and changing conditions.
Please do not expect the tree to arrive with the exact number of flowers shown in the photographs. With proper care, warmth and strong light, it can produce additional flowering cycles during active growth.
Care
This is a warm-climate tree that should be protected from cold temperatures. It can grow outdoors during warm weather after being gradually acclimated to stronger light. Bring it indoors before cold nights arrive and provide a strong grow light or your brightest available window.
Water thoroughly as the soil begins approaching dryness. Do not allow the root ball to dry completely, but avoid keeping the soil constantly saturated. Regular pruning during active growth will help maintain its shape and encourage finer branching.
Shipping
This tree ships from our Massachusetts nursery. We secure the ceramic pot, protect the soil surface and support the flowering branches as carefully as possible before packing it for travel.
Photography
Photographed on September 29, 2026. Flowers, foliage and seasonal growth will change naturally over time.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
