Old Imported Tiger Bark Ficus Bonsai with a Gnarly Root-Wrapped Trunk
This is the exact Tiger Bark Ficus bonsai you will receive.
Imported in 2025, this tree has been at our nursery waiting for its turn to move out of a grow pot and into something worthy of the trunk. In spring 2026, we repotted it into a 12" glazed Yixing ceramic pot, and now it is ready for the fun part: its next owner deciding where the design goes from here.
This tree has the kind of gnarly character people hope to find in imported ficus material. The trunk is old, textured, and full of movement, with tangled aerial roots wrapping and dropping around the base. It has that wild, powerful ficus look already, but it has not been over-styled. There is still room to shape the canopy, clean the structure, and make the final image your own.
The branching is strong, the foliage is healthy, and the overall presence is excellent. This is a great tree for someone who wants mature imported material with personality, not a cookie-cutter bonsai that already looks like every other ficus online.
Why This Tree Stands Out
- Old Imported Material: Imported in 2025 and held at our nursery until it was ready for a proper ceramic pot.
- Gnarly Trunk Character: The trunk has heavy texture, old bark, knobs, curves, and a rugged tropical feel.
- Aerial Root Interest: Exposed and tangled aerial roots give the base a dramatic, aged banyan-style presence.
- Ready for Styling: The bones are here. The next owner gets to refine the canopy and decide the final direction.
- Fresh Pot Upgrade: Moved into a glazed Yixing ceramic pot in spring 2026.

This is a tropical bonsai and should be protected from cold. Grow it in bright light, keep it warm, and provide good humidity when indoors. With proper care, Tiger Bark Ficus can grow vigorously and are excellent trees for continued refinement.
Shipping Confidence
We pack each bonsai carefully so the tree, pot, and soil are supported throughout transit. Some minor leaf drop or shifting can happen during shipping, especially with tropical trees, but this ficus is healthy, established, and ready for its next home.
Please Note
All trees are sold as-is. All sales are final - no refunds, returns, or exchanges. Once the tree leaves our nursery, care is your responsibility. Have questions? Just reach out - we're happy to help.
We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
