A professional-looking, resealable stand-up pouch of Bonsai Thrive 180, a time-release fertilizer specifically formulated for the specialized needs of bonsai trees.

The packaging design is split vertically. The left side has a clean, textured white background featuring the product name "BONSAI THRIVE 180" in bold, black lettering beneath an orange circular logo of a stylized crane. Below the product name, several key horticultural benefits are listed: "Long-Lasting Nutrient Supply," "Low Risk of Over-Fertilization," "NPK 19-5-9 in Every Granule," and "Improved Root Development."

The right side of the bag is a deep forest green adorned with delicate, light-green line-art illustrations of leaves and branches. A large, clear, crescent-shaped window on this side reveals the actual fertilizer inside: small, uniform, spherical granules in shades of deep indigo and light blue.

At the bottom of the pouch are icons for "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed" and a green checkmark indicating the product is "Ready to Use." The weight is listed as Net Wt. 10 oz (280 g). The overall image conveys a high-quality, specialized maintenance product for bonsai enthusiasts.

Rare Red Flowering Chojubai with Upright Trunk and Eimei Tokoname Pot

This is the exact Red Flowering Chojubai you will receive.

This Red Flowering Chojubai has a compact upright form with wonderful old bark, healthy new growth, and an exposed root base that gives the tree far more character than its size suggests. Chojubai are rare, slow-growing, and highly collectible, especially when they already show mature trunk texture and a root base worth building around.

The tree is planted in a 7" Eimei Tokoname ceramic pot purchased by Ashley, owner of Bonsai Outlet, while visiting Eimei in Tokoname, Japan in November 2025. A photo of Ashley with Eimei is included so you can see the provenance behind the pot.

At 9" tall from table to apex with a 5" spread, this is a small but serious outdoor bonsai. The upright trunk, compact branching, fresh foliage, and cream Eimei pot give it a refined collector feel today, with excellent potential for continued development over time.

Why This Tree Stands Out

  • Rare Red Flowering Chojubai: A slow-growing, highly desirable flowering bonsai variety valued by collectors.
  • Upright Trunk Character: The trunk has aged bark, compact movement, and strong structure for a small tree.
  • Exposed Root Base: The roots add age, texture, and visual interest at the soil line.
  • Eimei Tokoname Pot: Planted in a 7" Eimei pot selected by Ashley in Tokoname, Japan in November 2025.
  • Compact Collector Size: At 9" tall with a 5" spread, this tree has presence without needing much display space.

About This Tree

Red Flowering Chojubai are prized for their rarity, compact growth, red seasonal flowers, and ability to develop exceptional aged character over time. This tree already has a strong foundation, with textured bark, exposed roots, and a compact upright structure.

The Eimei Tokoname pot adds a meaningful collector detail. It was purchased directly in Tokoname, Japan by Bonsai Outlet’s owner, giving this tree a story that goes beyond the tree itself.

Care Notes

Chojubai should be grown outdoors. Provide good light, airflow, consistent watering, and seasonal dormancy. Protect the pot and roots during harsh winter conditions, but do not treat this as an indoor tropical tree.

Shipping Confidence

This tree ships from Massachusetts and will be carefully packed to protect the exposed roots, branches, foliage, Eimei Tokoname pot, and soil during transit.

Please Note

All trees are sold as-is. All sales are final - no refunds, returns, or exchanges. Once the tree leaves our nursery, care is your responsibility. Have questions? Just reach out - we're happy to help.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.

Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.

Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
