A Little Funky. A Lot of Potential.

We’ve put together a group of Tiger Bark Ficus pre-bonsai at our Florida nursery, and these trees have personality. Each one offers a different starting point for your next bonsai project. Pick the one that catches your eye, choose its direction, and make it your own.

If you’re accustomed to the familiar S-curved trunks of imported ficus, this group offers something different. These have a looser, less uniform structure, with branches extending in different directions and giving each tree its own character.

That’s what makes these funky trees interesting to work with. There are choices to make. Which branches to feature, which to shorten, and where to open up the canopy. You already have branching to work with as you develop the shape. Choose your favorite, let it settle into its new home, and start planning its next stage.

Choose Your Tree

The tree you select is the tree you will receive. Match the identification number to the individual photographs when making your selection. Each tree is available only once.

Why We Like These Tiger Bark Ficus

  • Funky, individual character with room for further development
  • A hands-on project for practicing styling and refinement
  • Your choice of ten individually photographed trees
  • Ready for the next stage in a ceramic pot when your growing conditions are right
  • Shipped directly from our Florida nursery

Moving Your Ficus Into a Ceramic Pot

These trees are ready for ceramic pots, but when you repot should depend on your growing conditions.

If you live in a warm climate or have a heated greenhouse with plenty of light, repotting this season can be an option once your tree has settled in and is growing actively.

If cooler weather is arriving where you live, we recommend keeping your Ficus in its current nursery container until next spring, when warmth and active growth return. Fall’s shorter days, cooler temperatures, and the move indoors make it a less favorable time to disturb a tropical tree’s roots.

Give your tree time to acclimate after delivery before repotting. There’s no rush to change the pot.

Don’t Forget the Tropical Feeding Bundle

Add our Tropical Bonsai Feeding Made Simple – Bonsai Thrive 180 & MicroTotal Bundle to your supplies.

The bundle pairs slow-release Bonsai Thrive 180 fertilizer with Ho Yoku MicroTotal nutrient support, plus four reusable fertilizer baskets and a feeding guide.

Begin feeding after your tree has acclimated and shows healthy, active growth. Follow the bundle’s instructions, and wait to fertilize a newly repotted or stressed tree.

Photography Note

Photographed September 29, 2026. Each option’s photos show the actual tree offered. Foliage and appearance will evolve with growth, pruning, and care.

Shipping Note

All trees in this listing ship from our Florida nursery. We prepare and pack each selected tree carefully for travel. Some foliage or growing medium may shift during shipment.

Care Note

Give your Tiger Bark Ficus plenty of bright light and a warm location. Water thoroughly when the soil surface begins to dry, allowing excess water to drain. Avoid standing water or letting the root ball dry out completely.

Protect this tropical tree from frost and cold. Indoors, provide your brightest suitable location or supplemental grow lighting, away from cold drafts and heating vents.

Please Note

  • Your selected identification number corresponds to the exact tree shipped.
  • Trees come in their existing nursery containers; ceramic pots are sold separately.
  • These are pre-bonsai intended for continued development.
  • All dimensions are approximate.
  • Trees are sold as-is, with final sales and no returns or exchanges.
  • Ongoing care after delivery is the buyer’s responsibility.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.

Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.

Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
