It’s a strong, mature ficus that still has plenty of design runway for you to shape the base, roots, and canopy exactly how you like.

Tiger Bark Ficus are classic indoor tropical bonsai for a reason. They grow fast, handle pruning well, and forgive the occasional care mistake. This tree lets you skip the “stick in a pot” phase and jump right into styling a trunk with real presence.

Think of this tree as a trunk-first upgrade. 

• The 4.5 inch trunk carries most of the visual weight. It already reads as an older tree in miniature, especially with a 19 inch height and 21 inch spread.

• The base is clean and open, with no heavy nebari or air roots yet, which is actually a plus if you enjoy root training. You’re free to develop your own surface roots instead of inheriting someone else’s choices.

• The branching and canopy give you room to refine: compact pads, a rounded tropical crown, or something looser and more natural. 

If you’ve been waiting for a ficus that’s past the beginner stage but still open to big creative decisions, this is that tree.
