You’ll receive three of the most friendly, popular beginner species, sold as pre-bonsai, plus three Japanese ceramic pots to get you started right away. (Pot colors will vary. Our team will choose colors that compliment the trees.)

1) Dwarf Jade (Portulacaria afra)
- Pot: 4" ceramic pot
- Height: approx. 8"–10"
- Recently trimmed so it ships compact. We’ll stop pruning so you can enjoy the next flush and do the future pruning yourself.
2) Hawaiian Umbrella (Schefflera arboricola, dwarf leaf)
- Pot: 4" grow pot (with included ceramic pot for your next step)
- Height: approx. 8"–10"
- Recently shaped. Then we pause pruning so it can flush out and give you fresh growth to work with.
3) S-Trunk Tiger Bark Ficus (Ficus microcarpa)
- Pot: ceramic pot included
- Height: approx. 10"–14"
- Classic beginner ficus with satisfying trunk movement and fast, reliable growth.
Soil (Sold Separately - On Purpose)
We sell soil separately because many bonsai folks already have their preferred mix. If you don’t, these tropicals will be happy in our All-Purpose Blend or Premium Blend.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
