Bonsai Cut Paste for Conifers & Azaleas
This is the cut paste we recommend when you are working on conifers and azaleas.
After pruning, branch removal, or carving work, fresh cuts can dry out, bleed sap, or stay exposed while the tree begins to respond. This Japanese green cap cut paste is a thick, putty-style wound sealant designed to cover those cuts and help protect the exposed area while the tree starts to heal.
It is especially useful on junipers, pines, spruces, cedars, hinoki cypress, and azaleas. If you are doing heavier structural work on a conifer, this is usually the cut paste to reach for.
The consistency is thicker than a tube-style paste. You knead a small amount between your fingers, press it over the cut, and shape it around the edge of the wound. You do not need to overdo it. Just enough paste to cover the cut and create a clean seal is usually all you need.

How to Apply
- Make your cut with a clean, sharp tool.
- Remove loose bark, debris, or sawdust from the wound area.
- Take a small amount of paste from the jar and knead it slightly.
- Press the paste directly over the cut or around the edge of the wound.
- Smooth it into place so the exposed area is covered.
A little goes a long way. The goal is to cover and protect the wound, not bury the entire branch or trunk section in paste.
