Handmade Weave-Style Accent Pot from Tokoname

As we were leaving the kiln, this piece caught my eye. I had first noticed a handmade clay watering can nearby, and then spotted this incredible weave-style accent pot. We have a number of woven-look pots at the nursery, but this one immediately stood out. It feels especially handmade, full of character, and even comes with its own matching tray / stand.

This is a highly unusual small pot with a sculptural basket-weave design built directly into the walls. The hand-formed clay strips, uneven edges, and visible construction marks give it a strong studio-made personality that feels authentic rather than decorative. The reddish Tokoname clay and the included tray make it even more distinctive as a display piece.

Because of its form and proportions, this piece would make an excellent accent pot, kusamono pot, or companion planting container. It has enough visual interest to stand on its own, but it would also pair beautifully with a seasonal accent planting or a small composition where the container itself is part of the story.

  • Origin: Tokoname, Japan
  • Use: Accent Pot / Kusamono Pot / Companion Planting Pot
  • Finish: Unglazed reddish clay
  • Special Feature: Includes matching tray / stand
  • Exterior Dimensions: 4.25" x 4" x 4.75"
  • Interior Dimensions: 3.25" x 3" x 3.75"
  • Condition: Kiln-find, hand-selected in Japan

What makes this one special is the combination of texture, form, and presentation. The basket-weave construction gives it a very tactile, handmade feel, while the included tray turns it into a complete little display object. It is exactly the kind of piece that collectors and display-minded growers tend to remember.

Each photo shown is of the actual pot and tray you will receive.

Note: This is a hand-selected kiln-find with clear hand-built character. Variations in texture, edges, and surface finish are part of what make it unique.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.

Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.

Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
