Sculptural Accent Pot from Seizan Kiln

This unusual sculptural pot came from Seizan Kiln in Tokoname, Japan. During my visit in November 2025, I found these tucked away on a back shelf after moving several other pots. After a little negotiation, I was able to purchase two of them, and I am keeping one for myself.

That should tell you how special I think these are.

This is not a standard bonsai pot. It is a rare, character-rich piece with a strong sculptural form that makes it especially appealing for kusamono, accent planting, or companion display. The body has a softly speckled cream surface with warm blush tones, elevated rounded feet, and a beautifully decorated end panel featuring a repeating blue patterned motif. The contrast between the playful shape and the hand-finished surface gives it a lot of personality without feeling gimmicky.

  • Origin: Seizan Kiln, Tokoname, Japan
  • Use: Accent Pot / Kusamono Pot / Companion Planting Pot
  • Finish: Speckled cream glaze with blue decorative pattern and warm blush tones
  • Exterior Dimensions: 4.25" x 4" x 3"
  • Height: 4" at the taller side
  • Interior Dimensions: 3.75" x 3.75" x 2.5"
  • Condition: Older kiln-find, selected from storage within the kiln

What makes this piece stand out is its originality. The silhouette alone makes it memorable, but the patterned end panel and elevated stance give it real display value. It would be excellent for a seasonal kusamono, small accent composition, or simply as a collector’s piece from Tokoname that brings a little surprise and artistry to a display.

Each photo shown is of the actual pot you will receive.

Note: This is a special kiln-selected piece and not a standard current-production item. Minor variations, kiln character, and hand-finished details are part of what make it unique.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.

Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.

Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
