Handmade Bonsai Pot by Bigei

This elegant round bonsai pot was made in Tokoname, Japan by Bigei, a respected name among Tokoname potters. I selected this piece during my November 2025 buying trip to Japan, where we had the opportunity to visit kilns, build relationships, and hand-pick pots directly from what was available on site.

This pot has a refined, understated presence with a softly rounded profile, carved exterior texture, and decorative cloud-style feet. The reddish-brown clay gives it a warm, natural look, while the carved surface adds movement and character without overpowering the tree.

  • Condition note: This pot is new.
  • Style: Round bonsai pot with a broad rolled rim and softly tapered body.
  • Feet: Three decorative cloud-style feet that add subtle elegance and lift.
  • Exterior: Unglazed Tokoname clay with a warm reddish-brown tone and a hand-carved repeating texture around the lower body.
  • Interior: Unglazed interior with a smooth finish. Includes one large drainage hole and two wire holes.
  • Best For: Shohin bonsai, small flowering or deciduous trees, compact conifers, or any composition that benefits from a soft round pot with added texture and visual warmth.

Dimensions:

  • Outside: 4.5” x 3”
  • Inside: 3.75” x 2.25”

Photo Note: You will receive the exact pot shown in the photos.

Shipping Info: This pot will be carefully packed to help ensure safe arrival.

About the Artist:
Bigei is a recognized Tokoname pottery name associated with quality unglazed bonsai containers that balance utility, craftsmanship, and subtle design. Pots from Tokoname are prized by bonsai enthusiasts worldwide for their heritage, clay quality, and strong connection to Japanese bonsai tradition.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.

Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.

Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
