Kaneshin Jin Pliers (No. 48A)
Jin pliers are the tool you reach for when it's time to create deadwood. The No. 48A has a slim, tapered nose with serrated jaws that hold bark firmly, so you can peel it back cleanly to form jin and shari, the bare, weathered wood that gives a bonsai its look of age.
They earn their place on the bench for everyday jobs too: pulling and twisting anchor wire when you pot a tree, tightening wire, and gripping in tight spaces between branches. The long handles give you good leverage for a firm, controlled pull.
About the Tool:
- Made in Japan by Kaneshin
- Carbon steel with a black finish
- Serrated, tapered jaws
- Length: 7" (about 178mm)
- Ships from the USA in Kaneshin's green box
Carbon steel can rust. Wipe the jaws clean after use and give them a light coat of oil.

We ship thousands of bonsai trees and supplies each year, and every order is packed with care by our team. Live trees are watered, secured, and packaged to help them arrive safely and ready for their new home.
Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
