BioGold & Uncle Bill’s Bonsai Fertilizer Bundle
A simple, balanced feeding bundle for cold hardy bonsai, outdoor trees, and mature bonsai. Also perfect for Tropicals.
This fertilizer bundle gives you two of our most trusted bonsai fertilizers: BioGold Japanese Bonsai Fertilizer and Uncle Bill’s Liquid Bonsai Brew 3-3-3, plus two fertilizer cups to help keep pellet fertilizer contained on the soil surface. If you have a lot of trees, you may need more fertilizer baskets.
If you are growing cold hardy bonsai, outdoor bonsai, or more mature trees, this is a great fertilizer combination. BioGold provides clean, steady pellet feeding, while Uncle Bill’s gives you an easy low-dose liquid fertilizer that can be used when your trees are actively growing.
Why This Bundle Works
Not every bonsai needs heavy fertilizer. Mature trees and refined bonsai often benefit from steady, balanced nutrition instead of aggressive growth. This bundle is ideal when you want to keep your trees healthy, strong, and well-fed without pushing excessive growth.
At our Massachusetts nursery, BioGold is one of the main fertilizers we use on cold hardy trees. It is especially popular with local customers and professionals because it feeds slowly, stays cleaner than many traditional organic fertilizers, and works well for outdoor bonsai.
Uncle Bill’s Liquid Bonsai Brew 3-3-3 adds a gentle liquid option. The low, balanced formula is easy to apply during normal watering and can be used alongside BioGold when your tree is healthy and actively growing.

BioGold: Slow, Steady Pellet Feeding
BioGold is an imported Japanese organic fertilizer pellet designed for slow, steady feeding. It is a great choice for outdoor bonsai and cold hardy trees because it provides balanced nutrition without creating the strong odor or mess often associated with other organic fertilizers.
The pellets can be placed directly on the soil surface or inside fertilizer cups. Fertilizer cups are especially helpful because they keep the pellets contained, make them easier to remove, and help prevent fertilizer from shifting around when you water.
Uncle Bill’s Liquid Bonsai Brew 3-3-3: Gentle Liquid Feeding
Uncle Bill’s Liquid Bonsai Brew is a low-dose 3-3-3 liquid fertilizer. It is mixed with water and applied directly to the soil during normal watering.
The 3-3-3 formula means it contains equal parts nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Because it is low and balanced, it provides steady nutrition without aggressively pushing growth. That makes it a good companion to BioGold, especially when you want a gentle supplemental feeding option.
Can You Use Liquid and Pellet Fertilizer Together?
Yes. Many bonsai growers use both pellet and liquid fertilizer as part of the same care routine.
Think of BioGold as the steady base fertilizer. It sits on the soil and slowly releases nutrients over time. Think of Uncle Bill’s as the liquid supplement you can use when the tree is actively growing and would benefit from an additional gentle feed.
You do not need to overdo it. If BioGold is already on the soil, Uncle Bill’s should be used as a light supplement, not as a reason to double or triple the amount of fertilizer your tree receives.
How to Use This Bundle
Step 1: Place BioGold pellets on the soil surface or inside the included fertilizer cups.
Step 2: Water normally. Each watering helps release nutrients slowly from the BioGold pellets.
Step 3: Use Uncle Bill’s Liquid Bonsai Brew during the active growing season when your tree is healthy and growing.
Uncle Bill’s mixing rate: Mix 1 tablespoon with 1 gallon of water, then water the soil thoroughly with the mixed solution.
Simple Feeding Guidance
- Cold hardy outdoor trees: Use BioGold as your primary fertilizer during the growing season.
- Mature bonsai: Use BioGold for steady feeding and Uncle Bill’s occasionally when the tree is actively growing.
- Refined trees: Use this bundle when you want balanced nutrition without pushing excessive growth.
- Recently repotted trees: Wait until the tree has recovered and is actively growing before fertilizing heavily.
- Dormant outdoor trees: Reduce or pause fertilizing when the tree is not actively growing.
Is This Bundle Right for Tropical Bonsai?
This bundle can be used on many bonsai, but it is especially well-suited for cold hardy and mature trees. If you are growing mostly tropical bonsai and trying to push stronger growth, you may prefer a higher-NPK pellet fertilizer such as Bonsai Thrive, with Uncle Bill’s used as a liquid supplement.
For cold hardy trees, mature bonsai, and outdoor trees where steady balanced feeding is the goal, this bundle is a great fit.
Important Notes
- Do not fertilize a severely stressed or unhealthy tree until the care issue is understood.
- Do not fertilize bone-dry soil. Water first if needed.
- More fertilizer is not always better.
- Use fertilizer when trees are healthy and actively growing.
- Keep fertilizer away from children and pets.

Live bonsai trees generally ship early in the week, Monday and Tuesday, to reduce time in transit. Tools, pots, soil, fertilizer, and other non-living items usually ship throughout the week.
Bonsai Outlet is a licensed nursery, not just a warehouse. We follow the proper inspection and certification requirements for shipping live plants across state lines. When a state requires additional documentation, such as a nematode certificate or nursery inspection certificate, we work to ensure the proper requirements are met before shipping.
