This tree came to us as pre-bonsai material, and this spring we finally had the chance to repot it into a ceramic Yixing pot. It already had a funky, expressive trunk line, and now that it is in a more fitting container, it really reads as a cool little bonsai with a lot of personality.
What makes this tree fun is the movement. The trunk twists and changes direction in a way that gives it a lot of character, and the live vein, deadwood, and compact foliage all work together well. It also has two possible fronts, which makes it especially interesting for someone who enjoys studying a tree and deciding where to take it next.
At 14" tall from table to apex with a 10" spread, this is a very manageable size for a bench, display area, or refinement project. The 8" ceramic Yixing pot gives it a finished, more substantial presentation than a training container, while still keeping the overall feel compact and collectible.
This is not a mass-produced bonsai. It is a styled Itoigawa Shimpaku with movement, character, and room for the next owner to make it their own.
